For the purple awards presentation, band member spectators should be directed to the seating on the south side of the stadium after the last band of the purple show has finished their performance. This will help free up additional seating in the main seating for friends and family members.
Only drum majors for each band will be allowed onto the field to accept their honors. The drum majors will be directed to congregate at the West side of the stadium by 3:15 pm in preparation for the 3:30 ceremony.
Purple Awards will include 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place honors in each class. Additionally, there will be four outstanding soloist awards, as well as an outstanding music performance, visual performance, general effect, and drum major(s) for each class.
For the gold awards presentation, all bands will participate in a parade of bands on the field. Once the final number of bands that are staying for this celebration is known, instructions on where to line up in the stadium for this ceremony will be sent to directors via the Band App.
The Gold Awards will include an Outstanding Musical Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance, and Outstanding General Effect honor for each of the two open classes. The Gold Awards will then conclude with 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place honors in each open class. Finally, there will be a overall open class award given for 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place (Grand Champion) across both classes.
A special thank you to Meyer Music of Blue Springs, Overland Park, and North Kansas City for the provision of the festival trophies.
